Frequently Asked Questions And Answers

In the Sim world the same questions are often asked over and over again.
Here is a compilation of some that I've heard a lot just to help you along your way.

How do I download Custom Content?

Once you find an item that you would like to download just find the download link.
Which will be a button or just the word 'Download' usually they will direct you to another site such a Mediafire or SimsFileShare (which are perfectly safe! don't worry). there you will see another download button. Clicking this will download the file to your computer.

A lot of creators use sites such as Adfly or Short, which will bring up a page with some kind of advert, ignore this actual page and focus on the count down in the top right corner, once this is complete you will be able to click continue. The advert page itself will often try to lure you in with continue or download buttons, these can be harmful to your computer so please only trust the button in the top right corner.

I downloaded a file to my computer but now I can't find it?

These are for Google Chrome, I do not know if the same options apply for other browsers.
(I would appreciate feedback on this one and information for other browsers if this does not work).

You have three options here:
Option One: There is a bar at the bottom of the screen that pops up when you download a file.
Click the drop down arrow on your download and click show in folder.

Option Two: Click the 'Customise and Control' button (The 3 horizontal lines/dots next to the bookmark star).
Then Click Downloads, find the one you want and 'Show in folder'.

Option Three:
This is recommended, Click the 'Customise and Control' button.
Go to Settings > Scroll down to 'Show Advanced Settings' Go down to 'Downloads'
Here you can personally set where you want your downloads to go.

What is a Rar. file and what do I do with it?

A .Rar file is a compressed file, or a bunch of compressed files. Right click and extract file using a free version of WinRar or 7Zip, both programmes are easy to find and are completely safe.


How do I install custom content?

With Sims 4, installing custom content is now easier than ever, all files are now package files and are installed by placing the files in the following location;

C:\Users\Yourusername\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods

Be aware you may need to actually create the mods folder in The Sims 4 folder.
